Reporting to the Finance Director, the successful candidate will play a key role within the finance team managing the banking/treasury needs for a portfolio of 300+ retail locations across Canada, including overseeing a team of banking accountants and other financial accounting tasks. It is critical that this individual has excellent communication skills as there will be daily interactions with financial institutions, accounts payable team, operations team, external financial partners, and other stakeholders as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for overseeing monthly full-cycle bank reconciliations and accounting, including internal and external reporting, bank accruals and other account analysis as needed.
• Support the implementation of process improvements.
• Works closely with financial institutions, accounts payable team, operations team, external financial partners, and other stakeholders to ensure timeliness and accuracy of reporting.
• Preparation of financial position reporting, cash flow forecasting, reconcile and verify accuracy of balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare monthly working papers for bank accounts, clearing accounts and financing/debt schedules.
• Analysis of financial trends and detailed analysis on bank transactions and expenses to improve accuracy of forecasts and budgets.
• Responsible for ensuring deadlines are met and implementing benchmarking for departmental KPIs.
• Provides training and development of team and prepare departmental process documents.
• Ad hoc duties as required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree with a focus in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration. CPA or related designation considered an asset.
• 3-5 years of supervising a banking/treasury team with a focus on bank reconciliations.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel with a propensity to create and automate manual processes
• Fast learner, able to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Attention to detail, strong organization, and ability to work independently and solve problems.
• Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work on and prioritize deliverables.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build relationships with various stakeholders as needed.
• Knowledge of IFRS an asset as is experience working with AccPac.
