About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer, the Director, Enterprise Risk Management will play a pivotal role in building and leading a modern, scalable first-line risk management function to support goeasy’s next stage of growth. This leader will shape the strategy, establish risk management frameworks, and partner with senior executives to identify and manage key non-credit risks, strengthen operational resilience, and enable smarter, risk-informed decisions. Leveraging data, technology, AI, and automation, this role will modernize how risk is identified, monitored, and managed, helping the business anticipate challenges, drive operational excellence, and scale with confidence.

Who You Are:

You are a strategic and progressive risk leader who brings a strong combination of business acumen, analytical thinking, and hands-on execution. You have experience building or evolving risk management frameworks and know how to translate complex risk principles into practical, scalable solutions that drive meaningful business outcomes.

You view risk management as an enabler of growth, not a barrier. You are comfortable challenging conventional thinking, influencing senior stakeholders, and balancing risk mitigation with commercial priorities. You thrive in dynamic environments, embrace technology and innovation, and are passionate about building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of accountability and proactive risk management.

What You'll Do:

  • Build and lead the function: Establish and mature a first-line enterprise risk management function, defining its strategy, operating model, governance, and priorities to support organizational growth.
  • Strengthen risk frameworks: Develop and implement scalable risk management practices, including risk and control assessments, risk registers, control inventories, issue management, remediation tracking, and executive reporting.
  • Drive enterprise-wide accountability: Partner with business leaders to establish clear risk ownership, strengthen internal controls, and embed risk management into day-to-day operations and strategic decision-making.
  • Provide strategic risk advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insights, constructive challenge, and practical recommendations that balance business objectives, customer outcomes, and regulatory expectations.
  • Modernize through technology: Leverage data analytics, AI, automation, dashboards, and emerging technologies to identify risk trends, monitor key risk indicators, improve controls, and enable proactive decision-making.
  • Enhance governance and reporting: Establish effective governance routines, escalation processes, and reporting mechanisms that provide leadership with clear visibility into emerging risks, control effectiveness, and remediation priorities.
  • Build a high-performing team: Lead, coach, and develop risk professionals while fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring:

  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in enterprise risk management, operational risk, governance, internal controls, compliance, audit, consulting, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, or transforming risk management frameworks, governance structures, control environments, or enterprise-wide risk programs.
  • Strong knowledge of established risk management principles and frameworks, including COSO, the Three Lines Model, risk appetite, risk assessments, control design, monitoring, and remediation.
  • Proven experience leading teams or functions across risk management, governance, internal controls, compliance, or operational risk.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with experience leveraging data, KPIs/KRIs, dashboards, automation, AI, or governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platforms to generate actionable insights.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior executives, challenge constructively, and translate complex risk matters into clear business recommendations.
  • Experience within financial services, consumer lending, banking, fintech, insurance, payments, consulting, or another regulated industry is strongly preferred.
  • Relevant post-secondary education or professional designations in risk management, business, finance, audit, compliance, or related fields are considered an asset.

We offer a Flexible Work Program that provides you the ability to work three days onsite per week, from our Mississauga office.

Internal Applicants: please apply through the link and provide written endorsement from your current manager.
