easymortgages (the “Brokerage”), is a division of easyfinancial and wholly-owned by goeasy Ltd., a TSX listed company. easymortgages provides brokerage services to the clients of easyfinancial throughout Ontario and the four Atlantic Provinces. easymortgages seeks to offer the best mortgage interest rates to our clients. We look for low mortgage rates in companies, banks, financial institutions, credit unions, unlicensed and private lenders.
We seeking an experienced mortgage broker and leader to assume the role of Director and Principal Broker for the easymortgages business. This exciting mandate is leading all aspects of an entrepreneurial venture for goeasy. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience in the residential mortgage brokerage industry, with an expertise in Alternative A and Subprime brokerage.
As the Principal Broker, your duties include:

Lead, coach and develop a successful team of Mortgage Agents

Grow the business; continue to progress toward making easymortgages a strong revenue line for goeasy

acting as the Chief Compliance Officer for the Brokerage;

ensuring that the Brokerage and each mortgage broker and agent follow all of the regulations and requirements that apply under the Mortgage Brokerages, Lenders and Administrators Act;

reviewing the Brokerage’s policies and procedures to see if they follow the Act;

reviewing the Brokerage's policies and procedures to ensure the Brokerage follows the Act and that brokers and agents are adequately supervised; and
-
Signing and approving any trust account reconciliation statements prepared by the Brokerage to confirm that such statements are accurate.
In addition, your knowledge and skill will be applied to:

develop and strengthen broker relationships;

evaluate mortgage applications and risk;

evaluate and analyze the documentation supplied by the brokers and agents that report to you to insure anti money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and Know-Your-Client legislation have been complied with;

provide credit decision experience on complex packages and manage the pipeline with the brokers to ensure documents are received on a timely basis;

apply a strong understanding of mortgage appraisals;

demonstrate routinely sound alternative lending underwriting experience;

effectively communicate, in both verbal and written communication; and
-
Respond in a clear, concise and professional manner in all interactions.
Ideally, you have:
- 10 years mortgage experience in the alternative mortgage market of which a majority of that time was with a major retail financial institution such as a bank, credit union, unlicensed lender, etc.
- demonstrated ability to use software such as MS Office (including WORD, Excel and Outlook), Expert (Filogix), etc.;
- completed a post-secondary degree, preferably in a financial field; and
- a current Mortgage Brokers License issued by the Financial Services Commission of Ontario
