Debt Recovery Specialist (Edmonton)

The Debt Recovery Specialist is responsible for obtaining contact with their assigned customers through phone calls, emails and face to face interactions.  They are responsible for their portfolio of accounts until the receivable is cleared either through arrangement or the legal process. All interactions with the customers will represent the company in a professional manner through firm negotiations, while maintaining a good relationship with the customer and adhering to all collection regulations and laws.  In addition, reducing charge off and maximizing recovery dollars is a key function for this role. You will work closely with our retail branches and National Collection Centre in addressing sensitive issues with the account in order determine the best solution to recover the funds. To be successful in the role, you must be well organized, flexible and have superior interpersonal skills.

As a Debt Recovery Specialist, you will:

  • Collect on past due accounts via telephone and in person

  • Set up repayment plans and/or payoff demands

  • Act as a regional team member traveling to assigned region and utilizing all resources to maximize bad debt recovery

  • Deliver collections documentation to various local courthouses and process litigations

  • Represent goeasy in court

  • Complete reports regarding collections activity

  • Subprime collection experience

  • Discipline and flexibility to prioritize and manage own schedule

What you need to work with us:

  • Familiarity with Canadian collections laws (asset not mandatory)

  • Strong Negotiation skills

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Must have face to face collections experience

  • Familiarity with local small claims processes (asset not mandatory)

  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

  • Past experience in collecting unsecured debt

  • At least 1- 2 years of management experience  (not mandatory)

  • Advanced knowledge of skip tracing applications, websites and available resources

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
