The Communication Specialist role will help drive employee communications through a corporate intranet using a variety of media, including newsletters, articles, videos and creatives. In addition, the role will assist with corporate social media, company events and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives such as volunteering, fundraising and other events for the goeasy, easyfinancial and easyhome brands. Reporting to goeasy’s Sr. Communications Manager, this role will be responsible for ensuring employees across Canada and multiple brands receive accurate, timely and relative information. Managing the corporate intranet, this is the perfect role for a rising communications star, as you will have an opportunity to work closely with goeasy’s senior leaders and gain exposure to external communications, marketing, HR and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and distribute internal communications to goeasy’s head office and store-based employees on the corporate intranet using various methods, including text, graphics, and video
  • Help plan, execute, and manage goeasy’s CSR initiatives (food drives, toy drives, fundraising events etc.)
  • Work with key partners across a variety of departments (Operations, HR, IT, Marketing and more) to design, edit and deliver communications to our over 2,200+ employees
  • Work with goeasy’s communications leader to build and bring to life goeasy’s new intranet/employee portal
  • Organize and maintain employee documents on goeasy’s intranet/ employee portal
  • Coordinate and build presentations for goeasy’s employee Town Halls and All-Hands meetings
  • Work with goeasy’s social media leader to help manage content creation and content calendars for goeasy’s corporate social media accounts (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook) including company milestones, employee recognition, holidays and observances
  • Work with goeasy’s brands: easyhome, easyfinancial and LendCare to align on content and messaging across the goeasy brand
  • Work with social media and external communications teammates on external campaigns and messaging, as needed
  • Assist with the planning and execution of company events (picnics, milestone events and more)

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certificate or equivalent work experience in a relevant field such as Journalism, Public Relations or Communications
  • 1-4 years of experience working in Corporate Communications, social media, PR, or a related field
  • Experience in launching and/or managing a corporate intranet, ideally Unily or equivalent, including engaging employees with the content and each other
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Comfortable with multi-tasking and able to balance competing priorities and deadlines. Highly organized
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to transform communications into visual, engaging and eye-catching creatives using basic document design knowledge and understanding
  • A creative problem-solver who is comfortable with a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and willingness to learn how to take your communications skillset to the next level inclusive of employee communications, PowerPoint decks, social media and more
  • Intermediate experience working with Microsoft products, specifically: Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premier Pro is an asset
  • Bilingual (English/French) is preferred
  • Familiarity with business use of social media such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok
  • Basic video editing skills (ie. iMovie)
