Goeasy is seeking a highly motivated Law Clerk to oversee all administrative duties and tasks for our Senior Vice President, Legal & Corporate Affairs and Chief Financial Officer. This individual will provide daily support to the team for contract administration, managing calendars, and providing general administrative support to ensure the effectiveness of your assigned executives.
Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Maintaining domestic and foreign extra-provincial registrations and licenses
- Prepare legal documents related to the development and implementation of corporate policies, procedures, and templates
- Perform complex editing and formatting for correspondence and legal documents
- Maintain an efficient file system (physical and electronic files) for confidential files
- Tracks the execution and storage of all legal contracts, including monitoring and following up on all post-closing documents
- Providing exceptional service to all internal clients within the business
- Provide contract support for standard corporate agreements, employment agreements, non-disclosure agreements and other documents, as required, reviewing, summarizing. interpreting and analyzing commercial contracts
- Managing and maintaining relationships with external lawyers, including billing matters and any required follow-up
- Maintain minute books and conducts reviews and rectifications, as required
- Conduct legal research and drafting as required
- Day-to-day administrative tasks and basic executive assistant duties including organizing files, diarization, booking appointments, and maintaining calendars for the CFO and General Counsel
- Collaborating with other Departments to provide documents and other materials to meet business needs
- Co-ordinates and makes travel arrangements, as required
- Takes initiatives on projects as assigned
- Supports General Counsel & CFO in preparation for Board of Directors & Board Committee meetings and publishes meeting documents on a secured site application for high priority audiences
What we are looking for:
- 3-5 years of related experience in a similar role
- Paralegal designation is an asset but not mandatory
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Post-Secondary Education preferred (College or University)
- Project management/coordination experience considered an asset
- Experience with maintaining provincial registrations and licenses
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision
- A strong understanding of corporate governance work required
- Exceptional organization and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Superior skills in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proven ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to work with people at various levels across the organization
- Detail oriented and demonstrated ability for accuracy
