We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join LendCare. In this role, you will oversee the Small Claims Court process and manage legal collections, ensuring compliance and efficiency throughout.
Day in the life of a Paralegal:
- Draft and prepare pleadings along with a variety of legal documents with precision.
- Proactively plan and prioritize tasks to meet critical deadlines and maintain workflow.
- Liaise with other members of the legal department.
- Manage and maintain a high volume of legal files, ensuring organization and accessibility.
- Actively prepare for and attend court appearances, providing solid support to our legal team.
- Oversee and coordinate legal settlements and collections processes.
- Efficiently locate individuals and assets using Skip Tracing techniques.
- Conduct thorough legal research to support case preparation.
What we are looking for:
- Paralegal Diploma or Certificate and minimum 2-3 years of previous Paralegal experience.
- Licensed with the Law Society of Ontario and must be in good standing.
- Knowledge of the Rules of the Small Claims Court and experience with Small Claims Debt Collections is an asset.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal software such as Clio or similar platforms.
- Comfortable working independently and in a team environment.
- A proactive mindset with the ability to consistently meet or exceed monthly targets.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle for court appearances (mileage reimbursed).
- Ability to work full-time in our head office in Pickering, ON.
