goeasy Ltd, Canada’s leading provider of non-prime loan and financial services to everyday Canadians, is looking to bolster its ranks with the addition of a Translation Specialist to join its high performing Corporate Communications team.

Reporting to the Manager, Language Services, the ideal candidate is a native French-Canadian speaker with proven English to French Canadian linguistic experience, demonstrated translation and editing abilities, a curiosity for technological advancement in the industry and a familiarity with human-assisted MT and CAT technologies, processes and tools, including AI.

As a valued member of the Corporate Communications team, the Translation Specialist helps support the French-Canadian content needs of the company by executing internal translation and French editing requests in order to provide a first-rate French language experience to goeasy’s employees, customers, partners and stakeholders throughout its multiplatform ecosystem.  

The chosen individual must be responsive, collaborative and versatile as they’ll be called on at times to liaise on translation matters between stakeholders, team members and/or external service providers; to manage the intake of the work, as well as to translating text from English to French Canadian on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities:

Under the Manager’s direction:

Assume intake responsibility of the Language Services requests: calculate translation costs and set deadlines, based on the word counts and internal client specifications (urgency and costs) and monitor estimated costs and deadlines; coordinate the translation and French editing of a high volume of projects (intake, coding, assignment, delivery).

Perform pre-translation tasks with the provided translation tools. Liaise and collaborate with stakeholders, team members, and external service providers to set expectations, clarify content and project parameters, and ensure internal clients’ satisfaction.

Provide ongoing translation, editing and proofreading services to all GSY business units to help maintain its compliance with Province of Québec language laws, in alignment with the company’s business priorities.

Help maintain terminological databases, translation memories and actively collaborate to the overall direction of the department. Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

1-2 years of experience in the translation field in a corporate setting. Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work independently and proactively. Exceptional project management skills including organizational and time management skills.

  • Fluency in French Canadian and English (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency in MS suite (Office 365 et al.)
  • Knowledge of translation management software and CAT tools (especially RWS Trados Team)
  • A degree in Translation Technology is an asset
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
